Hello and welcome! I hope that you will all enjoy it here! We are reading The Body Keeps The Score. There are 5 parts, plus a prologue and an epilogue. I will be posting one part a week for 5 weeks, with the prologue going with part 1 and the epilogue going with part 2. You don't have to do the discussion questions. I just created them because I thought they would be fun to do. If you have other things you would rather discuss, go for it. I look forward to it.
I don't really want to put too many rules down. We are all adults here. But I do have a few I want to make sure we all are aware of.
1)I am not a therapist. I've been in and out of therapy for the past 20 odd years, but I am not a therapist.
2)Tell your therapist you are reading this book. This book is very activating for a lot of people. It's not called "The Bible of Trauma" for nothing.
3)I prefer to say 'activate' instead of 'trigger' or 'arouse'. I find there are a lot of negative connotations with the word 'trigger' and 'arouse' has too many different meanings. I would appreciate it if you would all say 'activate' as well. I know I could go into the administrative settings and censor it, I just don't believe in censorship. I want to hold us all accountable for our own actions.
4)Last but not least, no attacking other people. I mean it. There is no reason to be attacking. This is basically a support book club. Use your "I" sentences.
That's all I can think of for now. If I have to come up with more, I will. I will also operate on a 3 strike rule. If you can't play nice with others, you get 3 chances. After that, you are out.
I would like to do a live Discord discussion. The Discord link. Please mark when you would be available on the calendar so we can coordinate. Please and thank you.
Thank you!
